Wachusett Meadow

We've been anxious for spring.. just like everyone else. So we took a family stroll in princeton. Nice town, too bad they didn't have high speed internet when we were moving last time. We went up the summit trail of Brown Hill, and back around. Trekker made it the whole way all by himself. Though he was pretty beat at the end. He enjoyed being the leader. (it was also the only way to keep him moving at times)

Trekker turns 4

This year the theme was...DINOSAURS. I decorated a cake (with a little help from Beth(thank you)) like T-rex. We had a dinosaur hunt game at the party in my parents back yard, searching for meat eaters, plant eaters and dino bones. Dinosaur hats and face paint rounded out the festivities. Day 2 was kept low key...a small family party at our house so as not to be too crazy for Trekker. Then day 3 Monday(on his actual birthday) he got a package from grampa, and we took our picture with blue Bear. Day 4 he celebrated at preschool with a crown and being serenaded, followed by a special trip to the library where he got to take home a book from the birthday box.

Apple Picking

This year my sister and I decided to partake in the local tradition of picking apples. With so many orchards close by it was hard to choose, but we ended up at Berlin Orchard's. The weather was a beautiful sunny day, leaves were just starting to change and we were ready. After checking out the pumpkin house, and goats, we purchased our bag, and then drove down the road a short ways to the orchard entrance. We decided to pick a few of each variety...gala, jonagold, cortland, and jenny red. It was fun to watch the kids run through the orchard and find the perfect apples.Little Edith refused to pull the apples off the tree, but had fun carrying one apple by the stem... in her mouth the whole walk back to the car.

Summer Vacation 2009

We just got back from our vacation up in Maine. Lucky for us our trip was sandwiched between two tropical storms/hurricanes so we had pretty good weather. It was super hot the first night and foggy and cloudy most mornings that soon cleared to sunny beautiful days for exploring Mount Dessert Island. This trip's highlights included: viewing the large waves at the shore, canoeing on long lake, blueberry picking on the carriage roads, golfing and dinner date, family mini golfing (both my mom and I got a hole-in-1), visit to the touch tank, and a hike up to Asticou gardens. Overall a very restful much needed vacation away from it all.

Fenway Park

The day finally came for us to travel to Boston for Trekker and I's first Red Sox game. Despite a comedy of errors we still had a great time. Strike one: no parking spot. Strike two: after racing in the heat (walking as fast as we could) the Fenway tours were sold out. Strike three: no yo-yo show at the Green Fest. The highlights turned out to be: 1)a fun subway ride...Trekker was fascinated 2)The free bouncing climbing walls 3) chocolate milk and make your own pizza at Unos for dinner. 4) seeing and hearing someone 4 rows down try to catch a foul ball with his bare hand. 5) amazed at the classic and cosy feel inside the ballpark. The Yankees beat the Red Sox 20 to 11. :( We only stayed until the top of the 4th inning, when it was 4 to 1. Maybe we need to burn our new hats we got for the game.

Dad visits, Forest Park and Middlefield fair

Summer is flying by. Dad,Sandy,Micheal, and Robert got to hang out with us. I didn't take any pictures but i stole a couple of Sandy's pics. We got to do a relay race sort of thing that the buddy dreamed up. That kid cracks me up.
Since we were so busy recently. Ma hasn't seen the buddy in a while. We went to the park/zoo/fair. We all had fun, but it was toasty out...even in the birshires.

We have been pretty busy this month with all our adventures. July 4th we enjoyed bbq's for the weekend with friends and family. Trekker was really excited by the sparklers aka "firery marshmallow sticks." We have started swim lessons, gymnastics, and summer reading. Family vacation to storyland and to see Thomas the Train. Summer is great!!!!

June adventures of Trekker

AS June has been month of rain our activities haven't ventured too far. However Trekker and Jesse and I still have had some interesting adventures. Austin's Birthday party at Davis farmland, growing a few peas in the garden and learning to shave like daddy have been the more exciting events.

Memorial Day

A perfect day. Trekker and I headed over to the common in Boylston to enjoy the festivities. We saw lots of old friends and new friends and had a great time. Trekker rode his first horse!!! He clapped and cheered for the classic "blink your eyes and you'll miss it parade" thoroughly enjoying it all especially catching the candy. We savored our traditional Decon dogs and learned that our rubber ducky "Stinky" won second prize in the races out of 200 ducks. Woo hoo! After bouncing in the balloon slide bounce we headed over to the Humphrey BBQ. It turns out the highlight for the kids was digging in the dirt... it must be catching because Ericka was inspired to create her garden at the end of the day.

Mother's Day

After a long winter, and some wet cold and hot weather we finally planned a visit to the Dinosaur Place at Nature Art in CT. The weather was perfect and it turned out to be the perfect Mother's day family outing. Trekker loved hunting for gems. Jesse and I continue to be impressed at Trekker's vast knowledge of who the dinosaurs are and various info about them. Here is a sampling of photos from our morning's adventure.

Tower Hill

One of the best times to visit Tower Hill, Boylston, Ma is in the spring to see the fields of daffodils. With the crazy weather this weekend and week, we knew it was today or miss the amazing show for the year. Trekker loved all the "beautiful" flowers and fun benches to sit on. I had 200 photos from today, here is my narrowed down sampling. My favorite is the nose to nose with the turtle.
